Day 8-Moving and Grooving

The puppies are quite the little movers.  They can get around pretty fast at times.  They are very wiggly as well.  They have just about outgrown they box I use to weigh them and a couple will try to climb out the top.  They will be an upgrade tomorrow.

Here are today's photos.

Deja Vu working on mastering the frog dog.
Revival's nose has filled in quite a bit.  Amazing how fast it happens.

Day 7-The morning routine

In the mornings Minnie goes out for a potty break.  Afterwards we go back in and it's time to change the bedding and weigh the "Minis".  We start off by moving everyone to a seperate basket so I can changed out the bedding in the pool.
After I change the bedding Minnie hops back in the pool to keep an eye on the puppies as I weigh them and then return them to the pool.
(I believe in this picture she was trying to tell me to quit with pictures and get on with weighing)

Then they must eat, because after 5 minutes from mom they are starving.  Just look at that belly on top.  Poor starving thing, not!

Then it's time for the next morning nap.  Rough life I tell ya.  :)

Puppies continue to do well.  Everyone was a over a pound this morning.  Minnie is a great mom and is doing well herself.

Here are today's photos.

Day 4-Here piggy, piggy...

Some puppies tend to stand out at a younger age than others for different reasons.  Recently that puppy would be Boomerang who we may start calling Boom-Boom.  He's a PIG who may be on his way to childhood obesity! (He weighed 20 oz this morning!)  He's easy to pick out from the rest when looking at the group.

Here is the big boy.  He likes eating so much, he'd thought he'd taste his sisters leg. :)

For comparision here is Boomerang and Deja Vu.

Deja Vu head shot.

Echo

Echo again with her cute little tongue.
Her pigment is starting to come in as well as on some of the others.

Day 3 - Some Face Pictures

Sleeping puppies are much easier to get pictures of.  I decided to use this wisdom and take some up close pictures of them in the puppy pile.  I don't have one of everyone.  Boomerang was busy eating and the blue girls buried their heads.

All the boys have broke a pound and Revival should be there soon weighing 15.8 this morning.

Oh the cuteness

Everyone continues to do great!  They got there dew claws removed last night.  Boomerang was the first to break a pound (no big surprise there) weighing in at 16.5 oz this morning.  Everyone continues to gain.  Weights are up .6 - 1.3 oz from last night.

Here are some pictures I took of the Minis this morning.

The puppies I can list offhand- In the group of 3 starting at the top by Minnie's head and going down is Yo-Yo, Rebound and Boomerang. The boys didn't want to hang out with girls at the milk bar.  At the milk bar from left to right is Karma, Deja Vu, Echo and Revival.

The Comeback Litter

We are excited to announce the birth of what we are calling the comeback litter. This is the first litter born at Spyrock in about 15 years!

The first puppy, who we are calling Deja Vu, was born at 12:55 pm yesterday afternoon. After she was born Minnie has some intermittent contractions, but after 4 hours she still hadn't had the second one. I was able to feel the pup but it just wasn't progressing. We called the vet and off to the clinic we went. Dr Jean examined her, determined she was unable to clamp down enough with her uterus so a C-section was in order. Surgery was uneventful and all babies survived.

Here is the first puppy born and only one that came naturally-
Deja Vu/Female/Birth weight 10.7 oz

The following are all born via C-section. Puppies came so fast that I don't have a "true order". We were all busy drying and making sure airways were open. So here is the order I picked them up and weighed them.

Boomerang/Male/Birth weight 15.4 oz!

Rebound/Male/Birth Weight 13.4 oz

Echo/Female/Birth weight 13.4 oz

Karma/Female/Birth Weight 12.3 oz

Yo-Yo/Male/Birth weight 13.9 oz

Revival/Female/Birth weight 13.0 oz

I'm happy to report that everyone is doing everything they are supposed to. Puppies haven't lost any weight since last night and some have gained up to .4 oz. Will try to keep posting daily pupdates. :)

The Melly is growing...

For those of you who aren't a friend of mine on Facebook, Melly is what I have started calling Minnie's Belly. She is getting bigger every day. Her Grandma Carolyn saw her today and came up with a guess of 8-10 puppies unless Minnie has a lot of fluid. Her Xrays are scheduled for April 20th so we'll have a better idea of how many at that time. Hard to believe that she only has about 2 and 1/2 weeks left to go!

That's all for now.
